The Alps provide a fantastic location for a summer holiday, especially for families with energetic children who may want something a bit more adventurous than the seaside! From
adrenaline fuelled Mountain biking or white water rafting for the older kids to Donkey treks
and visiting the Alpine Zoo for the smaller children. There are activities to suit all ages. You can even include a day with a local Mountain guide (and give your holiday that added X factor!)

Our chalets are situated in the atmospheric village of Les Houches just
8-10mins drive from Chamonix town. Enjoy the amenities of a typical French
village, buy your morning croissant from the local boulangerie, your local Tomme
cheese for lunch at the supermarket and enjoy a delicious dinner at a good local
restaurant such as the Basilic or Le Pele. With pastures abundant with
flowers and cows and easy access to some excellent mountain bike trails and
hiking you have all the superb activities of the Chamonix valley on your
door-step but the tranquillity of staying in a village away from the masses!

- Visit the St. Bernard dog kennels or the Husky kennels
- Visit ice caves Valley Blanche, just take the Montenvers train
- Visit gardens and Thermal baths (St. Gervais) or go to Annecy lakes for the day

- Mountain biking, excellent vertical descents accessible from Les
Houches ski lifts!
- Horse riding and donkey rides
- Rope bridges and 'Tyrolean' walks (Les Houches and Chamonix)

La Forge Self-Catering Rates 2010
The whole chalet per week including bills, beds made (includes linen) and
welcome pack including 'green' cleaning products.

- July and August
10 guests or less £1985 extra guests are £125 per person
Up to 14 persons. Thereafter extra children sharing go free.
For families with children the house can sleep up to 18 Excludes
end of stay clean. Charged at either flat rate of £135 per stay or £22 per
hr necessary. Please leave the kitchen tidy to minimise your cleaning
charges!
Arrivals between 15hr-19hr or late arrival fee will apply. Departure on
final day by 10:30am
La Forge hot tub is not available in the summer unless by prior arrangement.
Bed and breakfast Rates 2010
- Available for larger groups. Breakfast is 12€ per person per day, or 7€
per child.
Bed and breakfast includes; big breakfast with ham and cheese platter, laden buffet table with fresh croissant, pain au chocolate, baguettes, local honey and jams, fruit, muesli, cereals and yoghurts.
Your host will leave the kitchen and breakfast room clean and sparkling!
Optional Extras
Dinner is available at a supplement of 30€ per person. Aperitif and canapé, followed by a delicious 3 course meal, a half bottle of house wine, and fresh coffee, herbal teas and chocolates.
Resort driving service and airport transfers available Transfers from 40€ per
person (depending on numbers in the minibus) and in-resort minibus driving from
7€ per return trip to Chamonix town (for example) again depending on numbers in the minibus.
Cookery demonstration days
If you'd like to brush up on your brushetta, learn how to make an
authentic 'jus' to accompany with your roast poussin, or learn the
difference between a 'magret' or 'fillet' de canard please contact us for
details of our cookery days. We'll send you a gorgeous chef and can combine this
fun day with trips to a local farm or market. ALL abilities and ages
catered for. A great family experience!
Spa days
You could combine a visit to the local thermal baths (St. Gervias) or to the lovely Bains de Lavey in Switzerland,
with an in-house visit from a local therapist. Your own masseur will come to the
chalet and offer treatments such as full body aromatherapy or a muscle relaxing
sports massage. Treatments approx 60€ per hour.
When To Travel
| May | a quiet time in the valley. You can still ski or ski tour. Some walking available. |
| June | good climbing, mountain biking and walking. The valley blooms with spring flowers! Take the ski lifts up and bike down. |
| July & August | the busiest summer months. Chamonix town is bustling with visitors but the chalets offer peaceful respite! The weather can be very hot. |
| September | The weather can still be hot (evening mountain storms can occur) A good time for a last minute holiday. |
| Oct & Nov | A quiet time, autumn arrives. The trees change from vivid greens to russet browns. Early snows arrive, high up in the mountains, sometimes at village level. |
